The Airlie Beach Race Week will be held from the 12-19 August this year with those dates confirmed in an announcement from the Whitsunday Sailing Club.
It will be the 27th edition of the event and organisers are hopeful of clearing the high bar set in 2015.
Based out of the Abell Point Marina, the weeklong event will feature events on land and sea with races, music and markets.
On their website they offer an idea about what this event means to the Sailing Club and why people should get involved.
“The Airlie Race Week, hosted by the Whitsunday Sailing Club, is a highlight of the sailing fraternity’s sailing calendar. The event provides exciting and varied racing in a spectacular setting,” they say.
Aside from the lay day on Tuesday 16 August, there will be a full race program for the entire week.
The courses will take the boats through the Whitsunday Passage and into Pioneer Bay and boats across many different divisions.
Arrivals should begin in the lead up to the registration day on Frday August 12 so once again this event is set to bring in more tourists to Airlie Beach.
