Missing Kayak

Whitsunday Water Police are making an appeal to help out a visitor from Rockhampton who may have lost their five-metre-long Sail kayak (Kaskazi Dorado model – white and yellow in colour) with a two-piece wing paddle.

The visitor was camping on Whitsunday Island on August 12, and during the high tides at this time it appears the sail kayak has gone adrift.

A sighting of the kayak was later reported in the Solway passage – resulting in a police search.

The kayak was not located by police however and the member of the public who reported the location was not able to be identified or spoken to.

It is possible that a member of the public may have sighted and collected the kayak from the water and returned it to the mainland.

Anyone who has information linked to the current location of the kayak is encouraged to contact police who are very keen to return it to the owner – who is very concerned to think that his days on the water may be all over.
