Whitsunday Regional Council welcomes seven new trainees to its Bowen, Cannonvale, Collinsville and Proserpine operations this week.
Dakota Ayles , Robert Dougan, Patrick Widt, John Bobongie, Brooke Newell, Kyle Jensen and Shannon Rowe will join the Council team, experiencing the workplace first-hand.
Acting Chief Executive Officer Barry Omundson is excited to have the new young team on board, welcoming them to the workforce and potential new career pathways.
“As part of its broader Working Queensland jobs plan, the Queensland Government reinstated the highly successful Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative and First Start program, which has allowed Council to obtain funding to recruit seven trainees,” Mr Omundson says.
“We are pleased to be able to provide the new trainees with an opportunity to gain invaluable workplace experience in our organisation, while working towards completing a TAFE certificate and receiving a nationally recognised qualification.”
The trainees will start their brand new roles today, working four days a week at the Council while attending TAFE classes once a week.
